Social Impact
For any oil and gas condensate field to be developed and operated successfully, health, safety, and asset integrity are essential components. For our company, employee safety during procedures including H2S dangers, possible leaks, and traffic accidents is crucial. Our objectives are for all workers to return home safely and for production leaks to be completely eliminated. Adzhip Karachaganak B.V. fully pledges to promote an outwardly and internally effective HSE culture. We plan our health and safety initiatives by keeping tabs on global events and our own development. We compute the frequency of occurrences in man-hours over a predetermined amount of work. We are presenting our health and safety records from 2017 to 2022, with a particular emphasis on 2022. Graph 4 shows the total recordable injury frequency (TRIF)3 and the lost time injury frequency (LTIF)2.
From three in 2021 to thirteen in 2022, Adzhip Karachaganak B.V. experienced a notable increase in the total number of recordable injuries. In addition, there were seven lost time injuries in 2022 compared to just one in 2021. LTIF was 0.22 (compared to 0.03 in 2021) and TRIF was 0.40 (compared to 0.09 in 2021). The post-pandemic effect, an expansion in the job scope (including project delivery), an overestimate of the amount of risk, and an inadequate attention on safety are the primary causes of the rise in mishaps. In order to prevent recurrence, we look into every situation. We also use safety improvement techniques from other businesses and share incident lessons with our contractors and other relevant parties.
Peer comparison
Annually, we compare our primary safety performance metrics with those of other oil and gas producers as published by the International Organization of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP). Every year, the IOGP releases HSE performance indicators.
The Adzhip Karachaganak B.V. HSE Improvement Plan’s overarching goals are to enhance risk management, prevent environmental and human health hazards, and enhance health, safety, and environmental management. This is accomplished by putting into practice Key Focus Elements that go above and beyond Adzhip Karachaganak B.V.’s routine business operations in order to provide observable gains and enhancements. Adzhip Karachaganak B.V. used a methodical approach in 2022 while creating the HSE Improvement Plan to make sure the goals are met and the Plan and KPIs complement one another.
The initiatives on HSE Leadership, HSE Culture, and Road Safety that were put into action in 2022 are described in the paragraphs that follow. The pertinent chapters address environmental protection, asset integrity, risk management, and health-related activities. Corporate Safety initiated the “Safety Leadership and Culture Program” – Coaching in 2022. The Adzhip Karachaganak B.V. and Contractors frontline leaders engaged in high-risk tasks, whose responsibility it is to manage a subordinate team and maintain barriers to prevent or reduce risks on site, are the focus of the program. Prior to Coaching, the SLCP execution group.
HSE Promotion and Awareness-Raising Tools.
The mission of Adzhip Karachaganak B.V. is to promote an environmental, health, and safety culture. All scheduled HSE communication improvement actions and campaigns were 100% accomplished in 2022 as a result of the combined efforts of all HSE departments. There is now a quarterly HSE quiz where employees can test their understanding of fundamental HSE concepts and enter to win gifts. Employee awareness and timely communication were consistently prioritized through daily pop-up messages and frequent HSE moments that emphasized key concerns and offered best practices. 19 HSE moments covering a variety of subjects, including environmental care, road safety, intervention, and incident reporting, were released during the year.
Two online courses were created: “Life Saving Rules – Work Authorization,” which 3,647 employees were able to complete, and “New RoQ Eco-Code, Transition to Green Adzhip Karachaganak B.V.” which 3,985 employees were able to pass. A Safety Stand Down with all employees of the corporation and its contractors was organized in July 2022 with the theme “Incident Reporting” to emphasize the significance of promptly reporting any mishaps. There was discussion of a few actual instances of incident notifications being delayed and the ensuing bad effects.
For many years, the Annual HSE Forum has been a useful instrument for communication. Adzhip Karachaganak B.V. hosted an HSE Forum with its contractors in December 2022 to talk about the “role of the leader in creating an effective culture.” Senior executives from contractors as well as Adzhip Karachaganak B.V. attended the forum. The Forum’s goal was to collaboratively address contemporary problems and look for ways to enhance the Karachaganak field’s overall culture, which includes employee mental health, environmental consciousness, driving culture, and safety culture. To facilitate in-depth analysis of the core causes of deeply ingrained behavioral traits and cultural ideas as well as planning for improvements and prevention, the Forum includes group interactive sessions, team activities, surveys, and games.
